Yuri is a character featured in "Z Nation", first encountered in Season 1 Episode 8 "Zunami".

Season 1

"Zunami"

During the Zunami, while Citizen Z is tracking the event, a pod from the International Space Station lands near Northern Light Listening Post.

Simon encounters Yuri, a Russian cosmonaut, supposedly from the escape pod but he is later revealed to have been hallucinated by Citizen Z due to oxygen deprivation, which occurred because an errant golf ball damaged a valve.

There are several hints over the episode that Yuri isn't who he says he is and he often asks Citizen Z why Pup is lethargic.

Whether the escape pod is also Citizen Z's hallucination or was the result of a malfunction on the space station is unknown.

Trivia

• His name, Yuri, may be a nod to Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin (1934 – 1968), a Russian cosmonaut and the first man in space in 1961.
• СССР is the Cyrillic alphabet for SSSR (Svaz sovětských socialistických republik — The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics), so Yuri’s helmet is an anachronism. Further indicating that Yuri isn't real since the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 and the episode is supposed to take place in 2019.
