Red Death is a term used in "Z Nation", that first appeared in Season 1 episode 13 "Doctor of the Dead".

Red Death is the project name for the ZN1 virus, as it was being researched at the underground lab in Fort Collins, Colorado by doctors Walter Kurian and Marilyn Merch.
The virus was created by combining strains from different subjects, and was developed as a bio weapon.
Testing and Deployment[]
The first tests took place in 2014 on primates. The virus then mutated and jumped to humans by infecting a lab technician, Brandon Doyle, at Fort Collins.
The virus mutated several times and eventually escaped the lab, causing the zombie apocalypse.
