Barely anything was known about Cassidy before the apocalypse. She is the child of Will Chaffin and Hope Chaffin.

Cassidy's family is found by Murphy in a car together. Cassidy is at that point very ill.
As Murphy sees the little girl he offers to help her, by biting her. Cassidy then recovers and is no longer scared of the zombies. Her parents seeks out Murphy in Spokane, WA and asks to be part of his legion.
Cassidy is later seen playing around Murphy's compound where her parents work. Murphy cares for her because she reminds him of his daughter Lucy .
She is even mistaken as Lucy Murphy at one point by The Man .
